COMPANY

Conterra was established by the founders and management of Vanguard Cellular Systems, Inc., one of the first national wire line Cellular One operating companies in the United States. Started in 1982, Vanguard Cellular, now a part of AT&T wireless, operated one of the largest private microwave networks in the country.

In 2001, Conterra designed and deployed its first broadband Ethernet network by using microwave technology and FCC-licensed spectrum. The school district, in an underserved community in the U.S., reported broadband access speeds 67 times faster than its previous network and cost points that rivaled traditional broadband alternatives.

Today, Conterra operates secure, carrier class Ethernet networks in hundreds of communities across 11 states and continues to design and deploy networks coast-to-coast. Conterra augments these services with a Carrier division and offers a robust partner program for resellers and system integrators.
